Getting there

How to find our bases, collection, plus information on planes, trains and timing

1 - Cala Galera, Etrusca Marina, Salivoli (see map for location)

Fly to Rome or Pisa, then either (i) take the regular train which connects those two cities, or (ii) take a taxi direct, or (iii) hire a car, or (iv) ask us to collect you.  There is a charge for collection. If you are going to catch a train, which we usually do, Pisa is probably an easier destination, in that the airport is very close to the central station (5 minutes in bus or taxi).  Allow around €5 to €10 per person per journey, and rather more for the faster trains.  Details of the train timetable can be found at http://www.fs-on-line.com. For flights, RyanAir offers low cost options to each of these cities from London Stansted.

When you get off the train, or arrive by car......

For Cala Galera, make sure you catch the train that allows you to get off at Orbetello. It's 4km to the Marina di Cala Galera.....taxis wait at the station or can be called - telephone numbers on the wall in the station, or call us in advance and we'll give you their numbers. There's also an hourly bus in each direction that drops you 200 metres from the marina on its way to Porto Ercole. There's a large car park at the marina, just outside the gates.  At the Marina gates, you need to ask for  the "Frangifrutti" side of the Marina, which is along the outer wall under the castle. Tell the gate man you are a customer of "Sail Italy", and he will let you bring your car into the marina, but only for discharging your goods.  Beware:  your car will be towed if you leave it there - eg overnight

For Punta Ala, use the same Pisa / Rome line, and get off at Follonica (1 hour to 1hour 30 mins, depending on train, they are regular), and catch bus or taxi (25 mins) to Punta Ala, where the marina is obvious.  Large car park up the hill just outside the marina.

For Salivoli, you can get all the way there on the same Pisa-Rome line, but stop at Campiglia and catch the regular connection that takes you to the Piombini ferry terminal (15 minutes). It's a 5 minute taxi ride to the Salivoli marina from there.   Allow between 1 and 2 hours for the train part of journey, depending on the the destination and the exact train you catch.

For Etrusca Marina take a bus or taxi from Follonica station to the Marina.

2 - Porto Cervo, Eolian Islands

For Porto Cervo, fly to Olvia or Alghero (eg RyanAir from London) and catch the train, bus or taxi to the Marina at Porto Cervo. Alternatively take a ferry from the mainland (Civitavecchia near Rome) to Olvia, then train, bus or taxi. For the Eolian islands, fly to Messina and we will collect you from the airport at no charge for weekly charters.

3 - Naples, Salerno & Vibo Valentia

For both ports fly to Capodichino airport in Naples – 60km from Salerno. You can take the train to there and to either Vibo Pizzo or Valenzia Marina for Vibo Valentia.

General info and ferries

Dropping off one of your passengers half way through is a frequent requirement we are asked about !  Or collecting a replacement.  Italy, Sardinia, Corsica and all the other islands are served by an excellent network of inexpensive, fast and efficient ferries and hydrofoils.  These really make a difference, and can also be used for one-way charters.
