How many cabins ?

Cabins are doubles. A 3 cabin yacht could be described as a 6+2, based on the number of people who can sleep on board. The saloon in this case converts in to a double bed at night. So you can take up to 8 people, but obviously you will have more space if you limit it to 6.

Many people even choose to take 2, 3 or 4 people on a 6+2, partly because of the extra space below, but also because of the extra space on deck and the increased sailing speed of a larger boat.

In general, yacht sizes have been increasing over the years. A 38-40ft yacht was once considered the height of luxury, is now commonplace in the med, and is considered small in the Caribbean.

Don't forget to allow space for your skipper, if you take one. They don't always want to sleep in a hammock at night. Ditto hostess.
